Abstract

Digital media has been put in the face of a new era that deserves to be called with all merit (the era of electronic media supremacy) and in a way that is almost fateful, and it has become the authority affecting the values, beliefs and practices in various aspects economically, culturally and socially, and this is what drives parents to learn about the role of Digital media education in raising their childrenThe study relied on the descriptive approach that seeks to monitor and characterize the impact of modern electronic media communication methods on children, as the survey method was adopted because it is the most appropriate for the purposes of this study, especially with the lack of previous Arab studies conducted in this field, and a random sample of (217) parents was selected from schools in Diyala Governorate, Baquba City. The study came out with a set of results, most notably the approval of the sample members on the child’s participation in the electronic media (mobile device, browsing YouTube, social media) and they share their children with the traditional means (watching children's private channels on the TV) more than the modern electronic media and most of them let children use Electronic media for entertainment and playThe study recommended the necessity of integrating digital media education curricula in schools and universities as well as preparing training courses on the concept of digital media education for parents and educating children and families for the safe use of the Internet.
